Month 7 (Weeks 29-32)

"Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments."

Week 29:
How big is our baby this week?
According to What to Expect, Karapuz weighs nearly three pounds now and measures about 17 inches. Though he's getting pretty close to his birth length, he still has to chub out a bit. In fact, over the next 11 weeks, he'll more than double — or even come close to tripling — his weight. And as he grows and the room in my womb gets tighter, I'll be less likely to feel those big kicks and more likely to get poked by an elbow or jabbed by a knee.

Week 30:
"Your belly’s increasing size is a definite clue that your baby is getting bigger every day, weighing in at over three pounds now (he’ll be packing on the weight at a rate of half a pound per week for the next seven weeks). Also growing daily is his brain, which is actually starting to look like the real thing with those characteristic grooves and wrinkles. And now that your little genius can regulate his own body temperature and turn up the heat, he'll start shedding lanugo, the downy body hair that's been keeping him warm up until now."

Week 31:
"Weighing in at three-plus pounds and measuring 18 inches long, your baby is quickly approaching his birth length — though he's got to pack on another three to five pounds before D-day. Also developing at an impressive clip: your baby's brain connections (he's got to make trillions of them!). He's now processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses. He's also putting in longer stretches of sleep, which is why you're probably noticing more defined patterns of wakefulness (and movement) and rest (when he’s pretty still)"
Additionally, some of the amniotic fluid has to be removed at this point to make room for the growing baby so in essence that would mean I have about half as much fluid as I did about a month ago. Less fluid means less cushion and so I am likely to feel Karapuz kicks and movements more intensely. However his movements are going to be less drastic and dramatic from this point on. "Baby's lungs are maturing in preparation for life outside the womb. Baby is rehearsing at intervals by breathing in amniotic fluid and expelling it."

 Week 32:
According to "What to Expect":
"Your baby is practicing survival skills like sucking and breathing, while your uterus is practicing some Braxton Hicks contractions.
What's up with your baby? Baby is starting to get ready for the big debut, tipping the scales at almost four pounds and topping out at just about 19 inches. In these past few weeks, it's all about practice, practice, practice as baby hones the skills needed to thrive outside the womb — from swallowing and breathing to kicking and sucking. And speaking of sucking, your little one has been able to suck his thumb for a while now. Something else to note: As more and more fat accumulates under your baby's skin, baby is becoming less transparent and more opaque."

Introducing Julie Alexa Maslennikov!

NT Scan

Getting Social... aka
